I believe that activity in the creative community expands our understanding of each other’s perspectives and methods of achieving effective visual communication.
Senior Exhibition
“Reflection represents the education, vision and hard work of thirty-eight graphic design seniors from the University of Massachusetts Darmouth. It is the result of a year long endeavor to develop and research a topic, that culminates with a final project…”
-Graphic Design Senior Class of 2009
Pecha Kucha
Pecha Kucha events are a great way to meet creative people in your area or to get a feel for the creative communities of other cities. For Portsmouth’s 2nd hosting of the event, I was invited by local organizer, Mike Teixeira, of Calypso Communications to be a presenter. I would have 20 slides, shown for 20 seconds each, to show the audience of my new community my passions and work as a designer. I spoke about resourceful illustration in graphic design, presenting the work of my thesis project in a slideshow presentation.
“Iron Design” Competition
New Hampshire Creative Club hosted the event where individuals from all areas of creative work formed teams (i.e. designers, social media experts, photographers, marketing professionals, etc). The team members have likely never worked together on a project. We were given a selected topic and only one hour to complete a fully designed promotional marketing scheme. It was a great way to test your individual abilities and to learn from others.
